time to check sugar

I was wondering, the usual standard is two hours after you eat to check you blood sugar. OK, i have read a couple of versions. Does it mean once you started your meal, or after you finished? The "average meal" lasts 30 minutes.. this is based on restruants, and sometimes at my house. So, do I start the clock when I start eating or when I finish? And what about our snack? Should that interfere with the 2 hour countdown?

Thanks a bunch to all who have commented and replied to my previous message. Thanks again in advance.

Just a note: I use the 'LIFESCAN One Touch Ultra mini, mine came with out the control solution, and I was also looking for a replacement plunger. I contacted the manufacturer and they replied and sent me replacements free of charge.
Curoius to some of you long term diabetics, how long does your plunger last?
